From the 11,245-foot peak of its most recognized landmark, majestic Mount  Hood, to the fertile Willamette Valley farms where homegrown specialties include tulips, berries, Christmas trees and wines, Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory is ripe with activities to be explored. Area offerings include historic tales stretching back to Pioneer days along the Oregon  Trail and the Barlow  Road, an abundance of festivals and events, diverse lodging and tax-free shopping. Year-round recreation for all skill levels stretches from the mountain (skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing) to our rivers and lakes (white-water rafting, kayaking, fishing and swimming) our trails (mountain biking, hiking, climbing and horseback riding) and other activities such as golfing and camping.

Defined by the borders of Clackamas County, this scenic region includes the following incorporated cities: Canby, Clackamas, Damascus, Estacada, Gladstone, Happy Valley, Lake  Oswego, Milwaukie, Molalla, Oregon City, Sandy, West  Linn, Wilsonville, and the Villages of Mt. Hood (Government Camp, Welches, Brightwood, Rhododendron and Zigzag).

Activities

Outdoor Recreation - Allow plenty of time to explore the Great Outdoors in Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory. Travel anywhere in The Territory's 1,879 square miles, and you will find thousands of outdoor adventures. Mt. Hood's year round skiing allows you to snowboard in the morning and golf in the afternoon. Pitch your tent in one of many campgrounds and cast your fishing line in a nearby lake or river. White-water rafting, skydiving, bird watching, hiking, and bicycling are just a few of the adventures awaiting you and your family.

Hiking - From wooded urban trails like those found in Mary S. Young State Park to the heights of the Cascades on the Pacific Crest Trail, Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory has hundreds of miles of trails for every hiker's skill level. Choose from trails that take you through lush canopied forests, alongside rushing streams, or up steep hillsides where you are rewarded with spectacular views or a crystal clear mountain lake.

Mt. Hood is one of the most popular mountains in the Cascades to climb with mostclimbers taking off from Timberline Lodge for the trek to the top of the 11,245ft. peak.

Portland - The largest urban area in Oregon, Portland is renowned as a clean, green and friendly city. Radiating around the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia rivers, the Portland area's lush green cityscape and inviting, walkable neighborhoods are the result of its mild temperate rainforest climate combined with progressive urban planning.

Current Events

Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory is filled with events year-round. Winter is ski season with a full schedule of skiing and boarding events at Timberline Lodge, Skibowl and Mt. Hood Meadows. Spring events burst upon the scene with blooming colors at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival, Whitewater rafting festivals, quilt and garden shows, and arts festivals. Summer days are filled with cultural art festivals, farmers' markets, old-time country fairs and ride 'em cowboy rodeos.

The turning of the leaves heralds the new harvest and agriculture-based events including wine tastings, corn and hay mazes, and the Giant Pumpkin Festival. August through November is the timing of many Feast for the Senses events taking place throughout the Territory. As the weather grows cold, many communities have created magical events to ring in the new holiday season.
