Description

Barnhouse Trail makes a relatively gentle climb across steepening terrain for 2.4 miles to connect with Fry Trail No. 816. The trail passes through managed mixed conifer and ponderosa pine forest with recent timber harvest activities and roads evident. From the junction with Fry Trail, Forest Road No. 2630 is about 1 mile to the south (uphill) and Keeton Trail No. 815 is about 1 mile to the north (downhill). Trail is maintained every year to primitive standards.

Basic Directions

Travel US Highway 26 to Forest Road No. 12 – 13 miles east of Mitchell and 25 miles west of Dayville. Take Forest Road No. 12 5 miles south to Barnhouse Campground. Trailhead is in the southwest corner of the campground, marked by a sign near a small wood footbridge. Campsites, toilets, and limited parking for day use are available in the campground.
