This scenic byway follows the course of the Cache la Poudre River, a beautiful mountain waterway and Colorado's only National Wild and Scenic River. Wildlife, including elk, moose, antelop, and dozens of varieties of migrating birds, are common in this area near the northern border of Colorado.
The byway passes through Roosevelt National Forest before cresting Cameron Pass, at 10,276 feet. It then continues along the course of the river into the pretty North Park area. Numerous trails depart from both sides of the route, with access to areas like Red Feather Lakes and the Comanche Peak Wilderness.
