Eagle Creek Cutoff Trail is in the Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness Area. It is a minimally visited trail so solitude is likely. It mainly functions as a connection between Old Baldy Trail No. 502 and Eagle Creek Trail No. 501. A large loop can be made with Douglas Trail No. 781, Eagle Creek No. 501, Old Baldy No. 502 and Plaza Trail No. 783. Eagle Creek Trail itself is relatively flat as it follows Eagle Creek. While the trail is 5.8 miles long, the last mile of road down to the trail has deteriorated (see direction on next page) so add that mile of road to the hike distance. Trail ends at a ford across Eagle Creek that access Eagle Creek Cutoff Trail.
