Visit the headwaters of the Sacramento River. Water surges from deep inside Mount Shasta and begins its over 270-mile through the landscape of California, ending near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Follow the hiking trail to find native plants or picnic at one of the barbecue areas. Bring the frisbee or a soccer ball to take advantage of the playing fields or set the kids loose on one of the playgrounds.
