Description
The North Santiam River is one of the more popular runs in Oregon with intermediate level whitewater only 30 miles from Salem, OR.
Fed by Mt. Jefferson Wilderness, the North Santiam’s waters are controlled by dam release allowing for year-round boating opportunity. Blue-green waters tumble down pool-drop rapids between banks lined with volcanic boulders and thick forest.
Many visitors to the area find fall trips upon the North Santiam to be the most enjoyable, with colorful foliage and spawning Salmon adding to the mystique of the experience. Several access points along the river allow for both varying trip difficulty and length.
