Description

This trail is designated as a National Recreation Trail. It begins near Walton Lake, travels over the top of Round Mountain and connects with No. 808 Independent Mine trail near Forest Road No. 42. There are many open meadows, large stands of old growth ponderosa pine and mixed conifer forests. Water is scarce so be sure to carry enough for your entire trip.

Basic Directions

Major trailhead is located on Forest Road No. 22-148. Travel on Forest Road No. 22 past Walton Lake 1/4 mile and turn right. The second trailhead is on Forest Road No. 42, 6.5 miles from Ochoco Ranger Station.
