St. George is an excellent off season climbing destination because it’s almost never very cold (but watch out for the summer heat). Located in the very southwest corner of Utah, the crags and cliffs here offer exceptional sandstone routes and un-crowded pitches at around twenty or so different walls and canyons.
An additional bonus is that Zion National Park is less than a half an hour from St. George and it offers everything from great climbing and bouldering to hiking, biking, and amazing scenery.
Bouldering is also very popular in St. George as there are many sites to check out. The problems tend to be on large sandstone boulders that are more playful than they are scary. The town or city rather, is a quickly growing metroplex that has a lot of places to eat, but, not necessarily a lot of places you haven’t eaten at before.
