This trail starts from Crater Butte Trail No. 44 and passes through mountain hemlock and lodgepole to Stage Lake. There is a spectacular view of Lakeview Mountain from Stag Lake.
The trail enters the Diamond Peak Wilderness Area shortly after leaving the trailhead. Wilderness Permits are required for both day-use and overnight travel in the Wilderness from Memorial Day Weekend until Oct. 31. Permits are available at the trailhead.
