Description

Located in Washington State, just over the Oregon border from the Columbia River Gorge area, the Wild & Scenic White Salmon plummets from 12,000’ to its the confluence with the Columbia River in less than 40 miles.

The majority of the White Salmon is far too steep and dangerous to commercially run, though the lowest 7.5 miles offer exciting intermediate-advanced whitewater, studded with big waves and powerful holes. The high canyon walls of the White Salmon offer a moist oasis in the dry volcanic valley that the river cuts through, towering to over 100’ high in sections.

The White Salmon is well known for its raft navigable waterfall, a class V known as Husum Falls, which is often run by commercial trips. Single day trips are available on the White Salmon, located only minutes from White Salmon, Washington and across the gorge from Hood River, Oregon.
