Description

Oregon's tallest lighthouse punctuates the rocky outcropping known as Yaquina Head, unbothered by changing tides, seagulls or sudden stormy gusts of wind. Though the equipment (the lens and light are now fully automated) has been thoroughly modernized since the day when the beacon was first lit in 1873 and keepers tended it regularly, the climb to the top of the tower is a little like a step back in time, offering a glimpse of the sea and sea life little changed over the years.
