Description

Great views of Aneroid Mountain, East Peak, Wing Ridge, and Mt. Nebo unfold around each bend as one climbs into the headwaters of McCully Creek. There are opportunities to view wildlife, especially deer, elk and black bear. Wildflowers decorate the hillsides and meadows. After crossing McCully Creek and entering into McCully Basin the forest changes from a dense forest below to a more open subalpine forest on top. McCully Creek runs the entire length of the trail until you reach the basin. A special treat for hikers are the huckleberries that can be found along the trail.

Northwest Forest Passes are required at McCully Creek Trailhead. Self service fee station on site.

Trail conditions are unfavorable to stock use going over McCully Basin into Bonny Lakes. There is a stockloading ramp at the trailhead. Dispersed camping and grazing is available in several different locations. See Eagle Cap Wilderness Regulations. Vault toilet and hitchrails available.
