Along this route you will encounter an abundance of high alpine lakes surrounded by flower filled meadows. Several U-shaped valleys carved by glaciers centuries ago, many treed hills, and rock faces that provide spectacular views across the wilderness.

This particular route takes you to Swamp, Steamboat and Long lakes, with other loop opportunities existing. The streams and lakes provide many fishing opportunities. You can expect to see mountain goats, bighorn sheep, deer, elk, ground squirrels, picas, and other smaller mammals. If you are interested in alpine flora, want to see more of the world and witness the beauties of an undisturbed and spectacular nature, this is the place for you.

NW Forest Passes are required at Two Pan Trailhead and Bowman Trailhead.

The trail follows the west fork of the Lostine River & Copper Creek for much of the route. No water is available between Sky Lake and Swamp Lake. Dispersed camping and grazing are available along the trail. Refer to the Eagle Cap Wilderness Regulations for current restrictions. The trail is signed at all main junctions, trailheads and wilderness boundaries. The trailhead has a stock ramp, hitch rails, campground, and outhouse facilities.
