Mount Hood Hotels: Pillow Fight if you Dare

Description

Between a year-round ski season, miles of hiking trails and superb natural setting, it’s no wonder Oregon’s highest peak, Mount Hood, is a popular place. But whether you’re in the area to circumnavigate the base of the mountain on Timberline Trail or make your mark on its slopes, the time will come when you need a place to rest your weary head. Which is where Mount Hood hotels come into the picture. While there are several resorts in the area that offer sweet package deals and room service, those planning a longer stay or any sort of group gathering will want to think very seriously about Mount Hood hotels that take the form of party-sized vacation property rentals. And this isn’t just exaggerated pillow talk.

Let it be noted that for the most part, area resorts also offer family-sized accommodations, from suites to villas. In fact the Grand Lodge at Collins Lake has dispensed with typical hotels rooms altogether, and offers instead three bedroom “penthouses” with all the amenities. Given, there’s something to be said for the convenience of location, and the Grand Lodge, for one, is located in Government Camp, the closest community to the mountain. But if you’re looking for something a little more secluded say, or slightly farther from the milieu, consider instead some rustic (but fully provisioned) cabin with hot tub and fireplace tucked away in Mount Hood National Forest still only a pine cone toss from town. Invite along the extended family (if you dare) and book the group a few nights in a free-standing “lodge” that sleeps 10 or more, with ski slopes a very short drive away and proximity to Mount Hood Golf Course a definite possibility. So sure, you can book a week over Christmas in a lonely (but luxurious) resort hotel room. Or, you can plan a big shindig, with room for a real tree, at one of the lovely vacation rentals in the area. It’s your holiday.
