This trail begins right off Highway 199, mile 7.0, near the intersection with South Fork Road. The trail follows an old gold mining ditch which parallels Myrtle Creek. Lush-thick vegetation, redwoods and wildflowers are found along the way. Trail takes less than an hour to hike round trip at a leisurely pace. Botanical displays along the way.

The trailhead is located at Milepost 7.0 on Highway 199, 10 miles east of Crescent City and 8 miles west of Gasquet. Park on the south (river) side of the highway. Use caution when crossing Hwy 199 to reach the trailhead.
