Description

This heavily-used trail ascends steeply from Tumalo Falls to Happy Valley. The upper end of this trail can be snow-covered until mid-summer, blocking options for loop returns. Once all snow has melted, hikers without dogs can make a loop return via the Swampy Lakes Trail No. 23, Bridge Creek Trail No. 24.2, and/or South Fork Trail No. 25. Dogs and bikes are prohibited on these return trails where they pass through the City of Bend drinking watershed. Cyclists are strongly encouraged to ride this busy trail uphill only, to reduce conflicts with hikers, but they can enjoy a variety of loop returns, including via Forest Rds. 370 & 4601, or via the Metolius-Windigo Horse Trail No. 99, Flagline Trail No. 41*, Flagline Access No. 40.1, Swampy-Dutchman Trail, Swampy Lakes Trail, and South Fork Trail.

Please Note: Flagline Trail, between Flagline Access and Flagline Tie is closed until August 15 each year to protect elk calving habitat.
