Description

This beautiful trail meanders through old growth forest, flower-filled mountain meadows, and rocky ridges. Panoramic views of Mill Creek Valley are common. Trail reaches its final destination at the base of a 200 foot rock outcrop called Steins Pillar. The last 1.4 miles of trail is not well maintained, very steep, and requires sure footing. Average hiking time is 3 hours.

Basic Directions

From Prineville, travel east 9 miles on US Highway 26 to Mill Creek Road (Forest Road No. 33). Travel northeast for 6.5 miles. Right turn on Forest Road No. 3300-500.
