As the first town on the Oregon side of the California/Oregon border, visitors to the state will find a wealth of information - and beach access - at the Brookings State Welcome Center (open May-October),south of Brookings off Highway 101 at Crissey Field State Park (newly relocated from its former location north of town). Consult the relevant rangers' stations for information on mushroom picking in season and trail information.
