This lake can be accessed through the Smith River National Recreation Area, Doe Flat Trailhead - The trail leads into the lake via upper Clear Creek, and is approximately five miles from the trailhead. The hike is a steep and difficult climb.
Description
Although the trail to this lake is steep and difficult, it gets very heavy use by recreationists during the summer months.

Non-motorized boats only. Packable rubber rafts and float tubes are used by some fishermen in the wilderness areas. However, the hike into this lake is so difficult that packing water craft is not advised.
A valid California state fishing license is needed to fish within the National Forest. Licenses are sold at sporting good and other retail stores.
