From Prineville, take Post-Paulina Hwy (State Hwy 380) southeast from Prineville to Izee Hwy (County Road 112) at Paulina. Travel County Road 112 31/2 miles to Beaver Cr. Road (County Road 113). Turn onto the left fork (County Road 113) and travel about 2 miles to Puett Road (County Road 135). Turn right on Puett Road and travel approximately 9 miles to Forest Rd. 58. Turn right on Forest Rd. 58 and travel about 4 miles to Forest Rd. 5840. Turn left on Forest Rd. 5840 for about 7 miles to Rd. 5840-400, go about a mile east on Rd. 5840-400 to campground. South Prong Trailhead is at north end of campground.

Description

Open ponderosa pine forest. Nine steel horse pens, no loading ramp, horse to be penned while in campground. Trail #821 South Prong trailhead to Black Canyon Wilderness.
