Description

Walton Lake is a small lake snuggled among old growth ponderosa pine and mountain meadows. Electric motors are permitted on the lake, while gas powered are not. Fishing is usually excellent to fair. The lake is stocked three times each summer with Rainbow Trout. Swimming is a popular activity on the sandy beach (no lifeguards). Two hiking trails are located in the area - The Walton Lake Trail which is one mile long circles the lake. It is barrier free, and easy to hike. The Round Mountain National Scenic Trail is 7.5 miles long and moderately strenuous. Wildlife viewing opportunities include deer, beaver, otter, muskrat, and many varieties of birds.

A day-use picnic area is located near the boat launch. It includes two tables, two firegrills, a sandy beach and an accessible fishing pier. This is a barrier free facility and has reserved handi-capped parking space.

Walton Lake is an excellent place to come with friends and family to enjoy a quiet, natural setting with more developed facilities. Weekends are usually full, but there is still a feeling of peace and quiet.
